A quiet knowing
a compass not a map
If you look up stories about people’s intuition, you’ll find fairly dramatic examples of how people escaped danger or saved a loved one – all because they trusted the feeling they had that something wasn’t right.
🏠 I don’t have such a dramatic story, although I do like to boast about how, when we were house hunting, as soon as I walked from the kitchen to the indoor braai room, I just knew with a certainty I couldn’t explain that this would be our home.
Intuition is the third lever to success that Chase Jarvis talks about in his book Never play it safe. ⚡In this chapter he warns readers to NOT talk themselves out of their gut feelings about physical danger and rather play it safe!
a whisper easily scared away
In today’s busy life, many of us are not used to listening to our intuition.
Intuition is often like a small piece of eggshell. You’ve whisked the eggs, your pan is already too hot, you’re in a hurry, but you just can’t get the piece out. Intuition’s voice is whisper soft and easily scared away.
a pull
If you're willing to be still and listen, you’ll eventually find the quiet place inside you. At first, you don't have to do anything other than stop pretending that it's not there. And then when you’re ready, you can start experimenting. Something simple, like walking in the direction you feel pulled to. Rather than upending your life, it’s more about increasing your awareness and moving forward in a way that makes sense.
a quiet knowing
It’s a "quiet knowing that can help you decide what to do or not to do." Even though we're born with it, it's like a muscle that needs training to grow stronger.
Your intuition speaks through
Body signals, like feeling a sense of openness versus a sense of tightness
Immediate impressions, like a feeling of "Hell yes!” or “Hell, no!"
A sense of rushing energy: "I love this!"
A feeling of rightness or wrongness.
a compass not a map
Intuition is more like a compass than a map that shows you the exact route to take. You get the general direction, but you have to figure out the details yourself, because there is more than one way to get to your destination!
not all fun and games
Jarvis warns his readers that following your intuition isn’t always easy. You might end up being led to do things that seem strange or that you know your family will have opinions about. It’s not always easy to choose what is right for you rather than following society’s rules.
a complete solution
Intuition operates beneath the surface of our conscious awareness. It draws on our past experiences, internal signals and environmental cues to suddenly present us with a complete solution wrapped and tied with a ribbon and a bow.
Here is a visual summary of the intuition lever to success:
When you think, it is your intellect. When you do what feels right, it is your intuition. Intuition comes fast, makes no sense, is totally illogical and feels terrific.
~ Elizabeth Kübler-Ross
Trust your hunches. They’re usually based on facts filed away just below the conscious level
~ Joyce Brothers
Hope you have positive experiences listening to the voice that doesn’t use words,
D
